Is it free?
The daily reading is free forever — today's forecast, a card, a check-in, your journal. You get 10 wishes when you join, and earn one a day for your first three weeks, then one a week, plus streak bonuses — about 37 in your first month, which is a good stack of deeper readings before you have paid anything. After that the daily reading, the ritual, the check-in and the journal stay free and unlimited; the wishes are what you top up.
Do I need my exact birth time?
No. Without it you lose the houses and the rising sign, and the app says so plainly rather than quietly guessing. Everything else — your sun, moon, planets and every transit — is exact from the date alone.
Is this real astrology or is it made up?
The chart is computed from real ephemeris data, the same positions an astrologer would calculate. The tarot is a genuine 78-card draw, shuffled per reading. What Genie adds is the reading for you specifically — and it remembers your story, so the next reading knows what the last one said. That is the part a book cannot do.
What makes it different from Co–Star or The Pattern?
It remembers. Ask about someone on Tuesday, dream about them on Friday, and the dream reading knows who you mean. It notices when a symbol has turned up in three of your last twelve dreams, and it tells you. Most apps in this category start fresh every time.
What is a wish?
The currency inside the app. Readings cost 1 to 5 wishes — a card is 1, your full birth chart is 5. No single reading costs more than five; the bundles that collect several into one book are priced together. You earn them daily for free, and you can buy more if you want to go faster. Wishes never expire.
Will it tell me something upsetting?
It will tell you the truth as it reads it, including when that is uncomfortable — but it is built to be kind about it and it will never predict death, illness or disaster. If you write something that suggests you are in danger, it stops and gives you a real helpline instead of a reading.
